Senior Material/Pavement Engineer (Infrastructure)

To lead and manage materials engineering and pavement design activities for road and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with international standards, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
Oversee pavement design, material selection, and mix design for asphalt, concrete, and other road construction materials.

• Conduct laboratory and field testing of construction materials to ensure quality and performance.

• Review and approve material specifications, test results, and quality control procedures.

• Provide technical guidance on pavement rehabilitation, maintenance strategies, and life-cycle cost analysis.

• Collaborate with design teams, contractors, and consultants to resolve material-related issues.

• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards and project specifications.

• Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.

• Supervise junior engineers and technicians, providing mentorship and training.

• Support sustainability initiatives by evaluating eco-friendly materials and innovative pavement technologies.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

• 8+ years of experience in pavement design, materials engineering, and road infrastructure projects, with at least 5 years working directly under Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) projects.

• Strong knowledge of international standards.

• Experience with quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) in materials testing.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
